Tribunal Hearings

Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT)

If your visa application has been denied or rejected, you may have the right to file an appeal if you believe the decision should have been in your favor or deemed invalid.

The Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) conducts independent and impartial merit reviews of decisions made under Commonwealth laws.

The Tribunal may not always be the first option for reviewing a decision. In some cases, an internal review of the initial decision must take place before the Tribunal can intervene.

In other instances, the Tribunal can only review a decision after a specialist tribunal has conducted an intermediate review, such as with family assistance or social security decisions, which must first go through the Social Security Appeals Tribunal.
